2Get approved and log in

Our team reviews every application, usually within 24 hours. You will see this progress:

  1. Application submitted
  2. Team review
  3. Your shop is created and your login details are emailed to you
  4. Your shop goes live

When you are approved you receive an email titled “Your store is live”:

ItemExample
Store URLhttps://mystore.shup8.com
Admin panelhttps://mystore.shup8.com/admin
Login emailThe email you registered with
PasswordThe password you chose at sign-up

Click Open Your Admin Panel in that email, or type your shop address followed by /admin, and log in. The admin panel is where you manage categories, products, orders and pages.

On the Free plan you can manage products, categories, pages, your theme, shipping, tax and your own policy text. Payment gateways, currencies, extra languages, users and roles, and email settings are managed by SHUP8 and are hidden in your admin panel.

3Create a category

Categories group your products so customers can browse them from your shop menu. Create at least one before you add products.

  1. In the admin sidebar, open Catalog, then Categories.
  2. Click Create Category.
  3. Fill in the form (see below).
  4. Click Save Category.
FieldWhat it does
NameThe category name customers see, for example “Women’s Shoes”. Required
Parent categoryLeave it on the top level, or pick a parent to make this a sub-category
DescriptionOptional text shown on the category page
Logo and BannerOptional pictures. The banner size is 1320px by 300px
SlugThe web address part for this category, for example womens-shoes. Use letters, numbers and hyphens
Meta title, keywords, descriptionOptional text that helps search engines find the page
PositionA number that controls the order in the menu
Display mode“Products and description” or “Products only”

Your new category now appears in the Categories list, which also shows how many products each category holds and whether it is visible in the menu. Your shop may start with a few sample categories. You can edit and reuse them instead of creating new ones.

4Create a product

Start with a Simple product. It is one item with one price, and it is the easiest type to set up.

  1. In the admin sidebar, open Catalog, then Products.
  2. Click Create Product. A “Create New Product” window opens.
  3. Choose the Type (see below).
  4. Leave Family on “Default” unless we have told you otherwise.
  5. Enter a SKU, a unique code for this product such as blue-tshirt-001. Use letters, numbers and single hyphens only. No spaces, and it cannot repeat another product’s SKU.
  6. Click Save Product. You go straight to the product’s edit page, where you add the details in step 5.
TypeUse it for
SimpleOne item, one price, such as a book or a mug
ConfigurableOne product with choices such as size or colour. You pick the options before saving
VirtualSomething with nothing to ship, such as a service
DownloadableDigital files customers download after paying
GroupedSeveral simple products shown together on one page
BundleA kit where customers choose items to combine
BookingAppointments, rentals or event slots

5Add the product details

The edit page is split into sections. Fill in the required fields first, then click Save Product at the top. You can save as often as you like.

Required fields

FieldWhat to enter
NameThe product name customers see
URL keyThe web address of the product page, for example blue-tshirt. Must be unique
Short descriptionOne or two sentences, shown near the top of the page
DescriptionThe full product description
PriceThe normal selling price
WeightUsed to work out shipping
StatusSwitch on to make the product active
Visible individuallySwitch on so the product has its own page
Guest checkoutChoose whether customers can buy without creating an account

Optional but useful

  • Special price: a sale price that must be lower than the normal price. Add start and end dates if the sale is temporary.
  • New and Featured: switch on to highlight the product in your shop.
  • Length, width, height: product dimensions for shipping.
  • Meta title, keywords and description: text for search engines.

Photos, stock and categories

  1. Images: upload one or more pictures (JPG, PNG, WEBP or BMP). About 560px by 609px works best. The first image becomes the main picture, and you can reorder them.
  2. Videos (optional): MP4, WEBM or MOV files, within the size limit shown on the page.
  3. Inventories: enter how many units you have in stock.
  4. Categories: tick the category or categories this product belongs to, so customers can find it in your menu.
  5. Related, Up-sell and Cross-sell products (optional): suggest other products on the product and cart pages.

Click Save Product when you are done.

6See it in your shop

Customers see your products at your shop address, https://yourname.shup8.com.

  1. On the product’s edit page, click Preview to open the product page in a new tab. Or open your shop address and look for the product.
  2. Check the category page: open your shop menu, click the category and confirm the product is listed with its photo, name and price.
  3. Check the product page: it shows the photos, price, description and an Add To Cart button.
  4. Use the shop’s search to find the product by name.
A product shows to customers only when all of these are true:
  • Status is on
  • Visible individually is on
  • It is ticked under a category
  • It has a price

Products you mark New or Featured may also be highlighted on your home page, depending on your theme.

?Common problems

It says my web address is already taken or reserved.

Choose another web address. Short common words such as shop or store are reserved.

It says an application with my email already exists.

You have already applied with that email. Use a different email, or contact us.

The form stops accepting my submissions.

Too many attempts in one minute are blocked for a short time. Wait a moment and submit again.

I did not get an approval email.

Check your spam folder. If nothing arrives after 24 hours, email [email protected] or message us on WhatsApp.

It says the SKU has already been taken.

Every product needs its own SKU. Add a number to make it different, for example blue-tshirt-002.

My SKU is rejected as invalid.

Use letters, numbers and single hyphens only. No spaces or underscores.

My URL key is rejected.

It must be different from every other product and category address in your shop. Add a word to make it unique.

My special price will not save.

A special price must be lower than the normal price, and its end date cannot be before its start date.

My image will not upload.

Use a JPG, PNG, WEBP or BMP file.

My product is missing from my shop.

Check that Status and Visible individually are on and that the product is ticked under a category. See step 6.

I cannot find payment or email settings.

On the Free plan these settings are managed by SHUP8, so they are hidden from your admin panel.
